A stunning Martinborough summer day of old was matched by a fantastic turn out of 86 in the field for our Main Opening Day tournament on Sunday . The members thankful of the magnificent trees that line the course which provided respite from the searing heat.
The Golf was fun, however the highlight of the day was undoubtedly having Stephen Walsh entertain after dinner for the best part of three hours. The young Irishman is pretty tidy with the guitar and had the Clubhouse rocking, the likes of which has not be seen for many years. Stephen is also a very talented golfer, ranked number 4 in the Wellington Region. Thanks for a very memorable evening.

Another outstanding result for the mens Linnell Cup team winning 13/2. Impressive clean sweep of the four ball and solid wins to Captain Bill 7/6, Matt Thomas and Alistair Boyne 6/4, Andrew Lawler 5/3, Gavin Lovejoy 4/3, Malcolm Wood 4/2, Colin Wibley Smith 3/2 and Sheldon Mc Namara 2/1.
The Womens Lansdowne Team (Cartinborough) had their first game on Saturday at Paraparaumu against Shandon. Well done to Pip Kirk and Katie Smart for their foursomes win in the morning and to Sereana Phillipps and Kris Chamberlain for their singles wins in the afternoon. A pleasing start against a very strong and young team.
