On Sunday the Club hosted 20 pairs for the Wairarapa Open 36 hole Mixed Foursomes and the member only 18 hole AB Martin Cup. It was interesting that 10 couples played together, and there were two father daughter combos.
The winners of the Wairarapa 36 hole Open Mixed Foursomes Challenge Cup presented by A Casselberry Esquire was Boulcott Heritage Farms Malcolm Gullery and Alanah Braybrook. Carding a 2 under in their first round it proved pivotal as they stuttered mid afternoon to finish their day with a healthy lead into the Clubhouse with Gross 151. 2nd Andrew Lawler and Kris Chamberlain Gross 169 on a c/b to Bob Goodley and Sherry Weatherstone.
Ro and Lyle Griffith played well in the afternoon to scoop 1st in the Nett with Nett 139 just ahead of neighbour duo Derek Stephens and Carol Parkinson Nett 140. 3rd Nigel and Ailsa Malneek Nett 141 on a c/b to Dayle and Marie Scrimshaw.
Keen to retain the AB Martin Cup Alistair and Jenny Boyne were delighted to finish with a Nett 65 with one of the pairs making several recovery shots. 2nd Nick and Ju Allen both putting very well Nett 71.5. Best morning round eligible for the AB Martin Cup was Derek Stephens and Carol Parkinson with a Nett 67.5 to place them 2nd overall.
Nearest the Pins on Number 8 Colin Wibley Smith, Mariana Mc Dermott and Jenny Boyne.
The Mens Inter club team have now had four home games and were keen to take full advantage of local knowledge against Trentham and the lads did very well adding 13.5 points to their tally. Wins in the Singles to Sheldon Mc Namara 8/7, Malcolm Wood 8/6, Andrew Lawler 7/5, Andy Morison 7/5, Chris Ranish 6/4, Matt Thomas 4/2, Bill Crook 2/1, Alistair Boyne 2 UP and a half to Gavin Lovejoy. Full five points in the four ball, sterling work from Sheldon Mc Namara and Malcolm Wood 8/7, Matt Thomas and Chris Ranish 7/6, Andrew Lawler and Gavin Lovejoy 7/5, Bill Crook and Andrew Morison 4/3, Derek Stephens and Alistair Boyne 3/2.
On Monday hosting and playing, the Womens Silver Pennant team had a very reasonable start to the season going down 4/5 to Otaki with a win in the four ball to Kris Chamberlain and Sherry Weatherstone 4/3 and in the singles Kris had a stunning round against Fiona Mc Bride the putter on fire winning 6/4, Partner Sherry Weatherstone 1 up against Kay Wall. Marie Scrimshaw 2/1 against Robyn Gardner.
Bronze gals travelled to Manor Park to play Miramar and unfortunately did not do too well.
The Nine hole group played a par round is very hot conditions on Wednesday. 1st Jenny Tosswill +6, 2nd Gaylene Selby Neal +3, 3rd Leonie Wilde +2 on a c/b to Ali Russell.
Nearest the Pin on Number 8 one to Hiatt Cox, while Billie Holmes picked up NP on Number 16.
The Wednesday women also played a Par Round 1st Karen Shaw +4 on a c/b to Alison Tipler +4. 3rd Marilyn McKenzie +3

All Teed Up Nearest the Pin was won by Netia Morison and the Medici Cafe voucher for NP on Number 8 went to Lyle Griffiths.
The Tuesday Grumpies had a good tun out this week with Randall Warner winning the days Stableford Comp with 43 points. 2nd Ali Holmes on 40pts, 3rd Doug Fergusson with 39 pts on a c/b to Bill Jago.
