Tuesday Tome 8th February 2022

It is hard to believe that we are already into February.  Before I give results from last week can I please remind you all that you are required to scan in when you arrive at the course and masks are to be worn in the clubhouse unless you are sat down eating and/or drinking.

Some of the more observant of you may have noticed the Emergency Dunny (behind the 14th green).  Usage instructions are inside the door – please be sure to follow them.  This has been kindly funded and will be maintained by the 9 Hole Club Members.

To the ladies out there I have a couple of ladies who are looking for some clubs – do you have a set you are no longer using (preferably from this Century!).  If you do please give me a call.

At the end of January we hosted the Spark Pro Am which went very well despite having to make some last minute changes to the running of the day.  Congratulations to all the winners – enjoy your prizes.  A list of prizes and prize winners is on the noticeboard for anyone that is interested.

Also on the noticeboard is information about a Level 1 Golf Rules Course in April – I think there are one or two of you out there that could benefit from this!

Interclub started on 29th January with both Div 3 and Div 11 boys playing at home – Div 3 had an 8/7 win over Judgeford and Div 11 won 13/2 against Mornington.  The Silver Pennants team played on the Monday at Te Marua against Manor Park and had a 7.5/1.5 win.  All in all an excellent start to the season.

This Saturday both Mens teams are playing at home and the Silvers are hosting interclub on Monday.

This Sunday is Club Opening Day – you must register with the office by 5pm Friday – if you just turn up on Sunday you will be disappointed!

Results from last week:  Grumpies had a good turnout for their first round of the year with 30 turning up to play.  Phil Reid was the winner with 40 points on a countback to Mariana McDermott, Whitney Griffiths and Greg Dalton.  Twos went to Greg and Andrew McKenzie.

Thursday Club had 56 out playing.  Matt Thomas took the money with 41 points from Doug Ferguson 39, Alistair Petrie, Sheldon McNamara and Stu Taplin on 38.  Twos went to Matt, Sheldon, Alistair, Peter Schenk, Bob Lindberg, Bill Jago, Malcolm Wood, Malcolm Bridge and Jason Shaw.  Nearest the pin was Andy Morison.

That’s all for this week – have a good one.
