The Saturday and Sunday competition was Par – On Saturday 1st John Warner -1, 2nd on a countback Jason Shaw -4, 3rd on a countback Josh Hawkins -4, and 4th Brent McKinlay -4. There were no Twos. On Sunday 1st on a countback Brett Abercrombie +2, 2nd on a countback Seanoa Isaac +2, 3rd John Warner +2. Chris Ranish and Robbie Walters got a Two on #8, Seamus O’Sullivan on #12, and Alastair Petersen on #16.

Grumpies – Results from the Stableford round on Tuesday 20 August – 1st Rob McCreary with 36 points, 2= Seamus O’Sullivan and Brett Abercrombie on 35 points, and on 34 points Brian Russo, George Hunt, and Graham Wilson. Twos were Sandy Bidwill #6 and Seamus O’Sullivan #12.

18-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 21 August LGU, Putting – 1st Carol Parkinson Net 71, congratulations on getting a hat-trick! And Carol also won the Putting with 28 putts, 2nd= Sandra Petersen Net 73 on a countback from Bindy McLeod Net 73, 4th Jo-Anne Loe Net 75, 5th Jenny Wilkie Net 76 on a countback from Rosie Collins Net 76. On Saturday 1st Guy Walmsley Net 71, 2nd John Warner Net 77, on a countback from Chris Ranish Net 77. John Warner and Malcolm Bridge led the Putting on 27. Twos were Brent McKinlay on #6, and John Warner on #8. On Sunday 1st Jason Shaw Net 72, 2nd Seamus O’Sullivan Net 74, 3rd Ed Brown Net 75. There were no Twos, and the Putting winner with 27 was Seamus O’Sullivan.

Grumpies – Results from the Par round on Tuesday 13 August – A hardy 11 players went out today, 1st Bruce Sollitt 0, 2nd Malcolm Wood -1, 3rd Tony Taylor -2. There were no Twos.

9-hole ladies – Last Wednesday 14 August – We are loving these fantastic winter Wednesdays. Another crisp start to a sunny day. Putting round this week 1st Jenny Joblin on 14, 2nd Jenny Tosswill 15, 3rd Tania Williamson 16. PGG Wrightson Nearest the Pin #8 Jane Fanselow Price, #16 Tania Williamson (2nd shot).

18-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 14 August – 1st Carol Parkinson (2 weeks in a row) with 33 stableford points on a countback from Bernadette Pither & Rosie Collins, 4th Karen Shaw with 32. Closest to the Pin on #6 was Honor Clark and on #8 was Bindy McLeod. Juliana Allen took home all the Twos money being the only player to get a 2! Well done Ju. Congratulations to Ju & Kelly Taylor who had a real battle against Netia Morison & Rosie Collins but won after pressured putting on #18! Thanks for chipping away at these matches!

18-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 7 August – 1st Carol Parkinson with a Net 75 including Twos on the #6 & #16! 2nd Juliana Allen with 76 including a Two on #12, 3rd Bindy McLeod with 77 (Bindy check out the Shootout board!), 4th on a countback Karen Shaw from Deidre Thomson and Nicola Warren. Closest to the Pin was Angela Busby on #6 and Jo-Anne Loe on #8. Kelly Taylor was closest to the marker on #9. Emily Loughnan & Nicola Warren were the winners of the Putting competition with 30 putts.
Congratulations to Jacquee Reid – Firstly, cast your minds back to April when we played for various cups etc. Jaquee won the Aotearoa and the Veterans Cups. These results go through to the National level and Jaquee’s score (Net 64) placed her 3= in the Aotearoa Cup in NZ! And 2nd in the Veterans Cup in NZ!

The Saturday and Sunday competition was Par – On Saturday there were no entries, and on Sunday there were 25 entries. Guy Walmsley was 1st on 0, and the following four players on -1, 2nd Karen Shaw, 3rd Tony Taylor, 4th Chris Ranish, and 5th Brett Abercrombie. #16 was popular for Twos for Anthony North, David Weir, and Karen Shaw.

PGG Wrightson closest to the pin – #8 Billie Holmes, #16 Jane Fanselow-Price. We are all looking forward to golf on Thursday, followed by the walk through of the club house. Exciting times.

18-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 17 July – Fun Away Day at Riversdale Beach was played in great spirits and great weather. Foursomes can be an interesting experience! Sadly, our enthusiasm didn’t match our performance – except for Emily Loughnan & Kelly Taylor, and Jane Terpstra & Felicity Warren, who were placed. Netia Morison was in the wining Stableford team playing with Jane Williams, 55 points. Julie Dondertman & Kelly Taylor were closet to the pin on #5 and #16 whilst Felicity Warren/Jane Terpstra were closest to the pin for two shots on #6. Obviously, accuracy for some of us, was great. We didn’t win any raffles either!

Hello Golfers.

Come and see the view from INSIDE the new clubhouse! Thursday 25th July. There are two special events on this day:

10.45 am: The normal Thursday Club will start earlier (tee off at 11am) and include some extra elements.
4pm – 5pm: You can take a walkthrough and tour of the new clubhouse (entry by donation), followed by drinks, and a 5pm presentation on the clubhouse developments, and the chance to win prizes. This is a great chance to see the clubhouse and celebrate the progress to date.

Please let us know if you are coming to the walkthrough (entries@martinboroughgolfclub.co.nz) so we can be prepared.

The Saturday and Sunday competition was Net Medal/Putting – On Saturday we had three entries,1st John Warner 73 Net, 2nd Chris Ranish 77 Net, 3rd Chris Brooks 81 Net. John Warner also got a Two on #8 and won the Putting with 28 putts. On Saturday there were 27 entries, and 1st on a countback was Olivia Clark 70 Net, 2nd John Warner 70 Net, 3rd on a countback Josh Hawkins 73 Net. Josh also won the Putting with 28 putts. Twos were Ed Brown on #6, and John Warner on #8.

9-hole ladies – Last Wednesday 10 July we played a combined round of Stableford and Putting. We were playing catch up from our rained off golf over the past few weeks. Putting results 1st Billie Holmes on 16 putts, and 2nd Doreen Allen on 17 putts. Stableford round results 1st Doreen Allen on 18 points, 2nd Sarah Harvey on 17 points, and 3rd Jane Fanselow-Price on 16 points. PGG Wrightson’s closest to the pin on #16 Jane Fanselow-Price, and no-one on #8.

18-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 10 July – A Home Pennants round with 1st Jo-Anne Loe 37, 2nd Carol Parkinson 33, 3rd Adele Cairns 32, 4th Alison Tipler on a countback from Karen Shaw 31. The Saturday and Sunday competition was Medal/Putting – On Saturday, six players entered. Three were equal on 32 Putts, John Warner, Bruce Ward, and Chris Brooks. The Two on the day was John Warner on #8. The Net results – 1st Brent McKinlay 66, 2nd Byron Hegglin 72, and 3rd John Warner 73.
On Sunday there were 34 players – 1st Stu Taplin 68 Net, 2nd Jason Shaw 72 Net, and 3rd Bevan Sweeney 73 Net. #6 was popular for Twos – Shane Hislop, Chris Ranish, Marilyn MacKenzie, Dayle Scrimshaw, and Doug Clark. Steve Croft got a Two on #8. There were four players with 31 Putts – John Warner, Shayne Hammond, John Warner, and Tora Boyne.

This weekend the Saturday and Sunday comp is Medal/Putting 13 & 14 July and Rounds 15 and 16 of the Shoot Out.

Wine fundraiser for the Clubhouse – This is the 2017 Pinot Noir from the small Sei Cento block in Martinborough. There are just 600 vines and up to 600 (sei cento in Italian) bottles are sold each year, with the wine being aged before sale, so it’s mature and ready for drinking now.
This entire vintage is being donated towards the Martinborough Golf Club new clubhouse fundraising efforts. $20 from every bottle sold goes to the club. Members Emily & Rex have lovingly tended the vines and winemaker Wendy Potts has crafted the fruit into a delicious drop. Funds raised so far $4,200.

Grumpies – Results from the Par round on Tuesday 3 July – Four intrepid Grumpies trusted the Metservice forecast and played in clear, cool conditions. 1st Andy Morison +2, 2nd Sandy Bidwill -3, 3rd Malcolm Wood -4, and 4th Lachie McLeod -6. Andy also got a Two on #16.

Thursday Club – Stableford results from Thursday 4 July – 1st Rob Smith with 40 points, 2nd Jason Shaw and Bob Tosswill 37 points, 4th Greg Dalton, Doug Clark, and Scott Reid with 36 points. The Saturday and Sunday competition was Stableford – On Saturday, four players entered, 1st Bruce Ward 37 points, 2nd John Monaghan 35 points, and 3rd Sarah Monaghan 30 points. There were no Twos. Sunday there were 35 players. Brian Russo got the only Two of the day on #6, and 1st on a countback from Shayne Hammond, both 40 points, 3rd Tora Boyne 39 points.

This weekend the Saturday and Sunday comp is Medal/Putting 6 & 7 July, and Rounds 13 and 14 of the Shoot Out.

Marquis Shield – The season is over, and our Martinborough players won three of the five trophies up for grabs! They missed out on the Marquis Shield, but came home with the Senior Cup, Intermediate Cup, and the 4BBB Cup. Well done to everyone who played and contributed to the season, and to Chris Ranish who drove the minivan to and from their last game in Eketahuna.

It’s the last week for our Clubhouse Fundraiser raffle … $10 a ticket – there will be three draws for:
• a birdfeeder built and kindly donated by Richard Pither (Bernadette’s husband)
• a rockfish artwork by Angela Busby
• a yellowhead (bird) artwork by Angela Busby

The raffle is open to all club members and visitors. The three items are on display in the Clubhouse. The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday 10 July.
All proceeds will go to the Clubhouse fundraiser.

The Saturday and Sunday competition was Par – On Saturday, 1st Malcolm Bridge 0, 2nd Peter Schenk -1, 3rd on a countback Emily Loughnan -2. Malcolm Bridge also had a Two on #16. Sunday 1st Dayle Harwood +2 on a countback from Robbie Walters +2, 3rd Bevan Sweeney +1. Twos were Dayle Harwood #6, Bob Schofield #8, and Doug Clark #16.

9-hole ladies – Results from Wednesday 19 June – On a cold winters Wednesday the 9-hole ladies played a Best Nett round. Results were 1st Tania Williamson on 34, 2nd Sue Dalton on 39, and 3rd Jenny Tosswill on 41. PGG Wrightson’s Closest to the Pin #8 Jenny Tosswill, and no one on #9.

Nearest the pin on #6 Nicola Warren followed by a Rory McElroy putt, and on #12 was Marie. Sarah Monaghan was the only Two on #12.
