On Sunday, 1st was Malcolm Bridge 40, 2nd Dayle Scrimshaw 38, and 3rd = Bevan Sweeney and Vern Anton 37. Barry Johnson got a Two on #8, and Dayle Scrimshaw on #16.

9-hole ladies Results from our putting round on Wednesday 10th April – 1st = Leonie Wilde and Pip Fowler on 17, 3rd Sue Dalton on 19. Nearest the pin on #16 was Jenny Joblin, and Jenny also got a Two – congratulations Jenny.

Four intrepid 9-hole players journeyed to Feilding to take part in the annual 9 + 9 Challenge. This tournament is played over two days – with one side (9 holes) on Wednesday afternoon, followed by dinner and entertainment in the club house. Then the next morning the other nine is played, followed by lunch in the club house with raffles and awards! This was a thoroughly enjoyable two days away, with the Feilding course beautifully presented (showing the advantage of a decent rainfall over summer). This is an Open tournament – so there were both Men’s and Ladies divisions and with players coming from all around the Greater Wellington region – as well as far away as Matamata and the Coromandel.

Sherryl Howie distinguished herself in Div 2 with a second in the best nett, closely followed by Kay Harvey in fourth.  Billies Holmes, Kay and Lizzy Thomson also came away with raffle prizes. Well done Feilding Golf Club we look forward to next year’s event.

18-hole ladies – results from the Par MSB round. An outstanding round was played by Louise Smith who was +7, also Marianna McDermott +6 and Felicity Warren, Angela Busby and Sherry Weatherstone with +5. Jo-Anne Loe had the only 2 and was closest to the pin on #6. Deidre Thomsen won the Kitchener Dairy voucher for closest to the wiggly line. No closest to the pin on #8.

Pennants @ Paraparaumu – Martinborough 1 vs Manor Park – Sandra Petersen/Carol Parkinson, Alison Tipler/Jenny Wilkie, Sarah Monaghan/Kelly Taylor won their 4 bbl. Carol, Alison and Sarah won their matches. Sandra had a half. Result 6.5 to 2.5

Martinborough 2 vs Shandon – Karen Shaw/Honor Clark & Jo-Anne Loe/Julie Dondertman won their 4bbl, Jo-Anne, Julie and Jaquee Reid won their matches. 5.5 to 3.5

The next round is April 29 @Boulcott Farm.

The Rew McCracken was played at Castlepoint on Friday 12th April which was devastated by Cyclones last year. The course has recovered well but the lack of placing on very patchy fairways was challenging! Teams of 6 play best, combined Nett. Sadly, the cup was handed over to Riversdale. Thanks to our 6 players Jo-Anne, Alison, Karen, Sandra, Bindy McLeod, and Nicola who still travelled out there despite the inclement forecast!

Tilson was played on Sunday 14th April at Mahunga. Carol was impressive, down 3 with 3 to play and she went on to halve the match. Honor & Nicola battled against a golfer who could do no wrong and took advantage of all the shots she was being given!

Grumpies – Results from the Par round on Tue 9th April – 1st John Tanner 2, 2nd = Rick Hargreaves and Malcolm Bridge 1. Rick Thompson had the only Two of the day on #6.

Thursday Club – Stableford results from Thu 11th April – 1st = Karen Stephens and George Kirk 41, 3rd Jason Burt 40. Nearest the pin was Jason Shaw, and Two’s went to Mariana McDermott, Griff Page, and Lloyd Warren on #6, Mike Charteris and Ed Brown on #8, and John Monaghan on #16.
