Tuesday Tome 21May24

Hello Golfers.

The Ngahau Trophy was on Sunday 19 May, and we had a total of 54 players including the Grandma’s, Grandpa’s, non-Grandma’s, and non-Grandpa’s. The Ngahau Trophies were won by the Captains – Andy Morison 36 Stableford points and Nicola Warren with 40 Stableford points. The Grandma walking stick was won by Marie Scrimshaw, Richard Pither the Grandpa’s walking stick both with 41 points. The non-Grandma’s division was won by Nicola Warren, and Guy Walmsley won the non-Grandpa’s division both with 40 points. A wonderful day was had by all.

The Saturday competition was Stableford on 18 May – with three entries. 1st Byron Hegglin 30 points, and 2nd Ben Turner 29 points. There were no Twos.

This weekend the Saturday and Sunday comp is Par on 25 & 26 May.

Men’s Interclub results Saturday 18 May – Division 2 were away to Boulcott’s Farm for their last round of the season, and still in with a good chance to top the table, coming away with 6 points. A credible result but with Te Marua getting 11 points at home, that was enough for them to sneak into the top position. Still a fantastic result finishing 2nd overall in Division 2. This is a team who only 2 years ago were in Division 4 and are now challenging for promotion to Division 1. Great result for Josh Hawkins and the team.

Division 10 were at home to Mahunga and only needed 2.5 points to win the division. Pete Gray and Shayne Cater were first out securing 3 points straight off the bat to secure the division win. The result of 11/4 was indicative of the solid performances put in through the season. Contributions across the team but a shout out to Steve Croft for an outstanding season as well as Murray Hill at #1, and Jackson Gray who is really maturing into a good player. Thanks to Tora and Shayne Hammond for running things and to everyone who played for either division, thank you for your contribution. (Shayne Cater)

18-hole ladies Results from Wednesday 15 May – A stableford round as there were some matches being played. 1st Jaquee Reid with 36, 2nd Diana Donald with 35, 3rd = Adele Cairns, Bernadette Pither, and Karen Delehanty with 33. Closest to the pin on #6 was Karen Shaw and # 8 was Susie Matthews.

Riverside was held at Pahiatua where we were all playing on reduced handicaps (from Martinborough), we’re giving shots in winter-type fairway conditions and playing the tricky Eketahuna course. So, it was tough! Nicola Warren had a win; Sandra Petersen had a half and Sarah Monaghan battled it out to the 18th. The next and last round is Friday 24 May at Riversdale Beach. I know that at least 4 of the team will be sporting the new caps that look so smart … thank you Emily Loughnan. They are on sale from the office for a reasonable $25. (Nicola Warren)

Grumpies – Results from the Stableford round on Tuesday 14 May – 1st = with 37 points Soli Noval and Rick Thompson, 3rd = Malcolm Bridge and Malcolm Wood, 5th = Mike Eastwood, Bruce Sollitt, and John Tanner.
