Tuesday Tome 22nd February 2022

After another wet Sunday it is good to see the sun again – it does seem strange to see the course so green at this time of year.  A new date for the postponed Dick Bennett 4BBB is being sorted and we will let you know as soon as possible.

The first round of Captains Trophy is 6th March – sheet is up on the noticeboard if you wish to play or please call the office to enter.

Coming up this week we are hosting over 50 greenkeepers from the Wellington region on Wednesday and on Saturday both Div 3 and Div 11 interclub teams are at home playing their postponed matches from a couple of weeks ago so Saturday will be very busy out on the course.  On Sunday the Marquis Shield boys are playing their final round from last year at Mahunga!!

Last Thursday the 9 holers were playing interclub at Paraparaumu against Otaki/Royal Wellington where Debbie Coom and Tingay Davison both came away with wins.

Last weekend saw Div 3 playing away at Te Marua where they had a good win managing 3 points in the 4 balls and 5.5 points in the singles.  Div 11 were away at Mahunga where they also had a good win with 4 points in the 4 balls and 5 wins in the singles.  At the moment Div 3 are 2nd in the standings and Div 11 are leading their division.  A great start to the season.

On Monday the Silver pennants girls were away at Otaki playing Miramar where they managed to get 3 points leaving them 2nd in the division.  The bronze girls were at home playing Shandon coming away with 4.5 points to lead the table.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played an Irish Stableford with Brian Russo having an excellent day coming in with 80 points from Rob Lopez and Sandy Bidwill on 68 points closely followed by Richard Thompson with 67 points.  Greg Dalton had a good day as he was the only one to get a two.

On Wednesday the ladies played LGU/Captains Trophy Qualifier/Shoot Out.  Marilyn MacKenzie won with a nett 70 from Sherry Weatherstone 73 and Katrina Burgess and Jenny Wilkie 74.  The only person to get a two was Jenny Wilkie and she had 2 of them but unfortunately for her she didn’t go in the birds nest.

The 9 holers had a putting competition with Sherry Howie winning with a very impressive 10 putts, 2nd were Sandra Burgess and Jo Guscott with 15 putts and Pat Wood and Debbie Coom had 16 putts.  Nearest the pin on #8 was Mary Herrick who also had a two and nearest the pin #16 Tania Williamson.

Thursday Club had a good turnout with 56 out playing.  The winner on the day was Davis Lester Clarke with 40 points on a countback from Tony Taylor, Anna Possenniskie 37 points, Bill Gordon, Shayne Cater, Doug Clark and Sandy Bidwill 36 points.  Twos went to Doug Clark, Malcolm Wood, Chris Ranish, Paul Riddiford, Jason Shaw, Bob Lindberg and Bob Schofield.  Nearest the pin went to Dave Stevenson.

Competitions are now back on weekends and for those of you playing on a weekend if you are NOT in the competition please do not press Yes for the competition – read the screen!!!!!

Competition on Saturday was a Par round with Peter Schenk winning with -3 from Guy Walmsley.  There were no 2s.

That’s it for another week.
