Tuesday Tome 22nd November 2022

There are a number of golfers out enjoying the sunshine today with conditions getting quite breezy which will hopefully keep any rain away.

This week Thursday Club is having a $10 tournament – everyone is welcome – please make sure you have your card in by midday for a 12.15pm tee off.  You can make up your own four or just go into the draw.

Sunday 4th December we are hosting the Masterborough Tournament – as we have managed to regain the Baarbraa Trophy, The Bidwill/Leckie Cup and the Lady Stout we need to make it four in a row.  Please let the office know if you are keen to play – registration is from 10.30am with an 11.30am tee off.

Wednesday 7th December it is the AGM which will be held in the clubhouse starting at 5.30pm – all financial members are welcome.

Sunday 11th December is our Xmas Cheer/Closing Day – more details to follow.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round with Mariana McDermott winning with 39 points, Ro Griffiths 38, Mary Isaac 37, Max Charmley (Dannevirke) and Seamus O’Sullivan 35 points.  Twos went to Ro Griffiths, Malcolm Wood, Paul Harris and Rick Hargreaves.

On Wednesday the ladies had a combined day and played a 10 hole fun competition followed by their Closing Day and AGM.

Thursday we held our Murray Halberg Day with the weather doing its best to spoil it for everyone.  The majority of the players were called in but unfortunately a few didn’t hear the hooter so completed their round and came in looking extremely soggy.  The raffle and auction were very well supported so thank you to everyone for your generosity.

On Saturday we hosted our 36 Hole Mixed 4Somes tournament.  The winners of the Gross were George Kirk & Pip Smith (172), 2nd Alex & Aimee Jones (Kapiti) (166) and 3rd Martin Napier & Debbie Donaldson (170).  The Nett winners were Pete Halstead and Mariana McDermott (141), 2nd Sandy Bidwill & Alison Tipler (143) and 3rd Garth Lippitt & Britta Fraser (Boulcott & Judgeford) (144).  Stableford winners were Trevor Petersen & Julie Weber (73), 2nd Steve & Anne Ricketts (Waikanae) (73) and 3rd Doug & Olivia Clark (71).  Nearest the pin in 2 on number 10 Doug Clark (am) and Nicky Stephenson (pm).

Sunday was the last Club competition of the year with Brian Russo taking the honours with 39 points, Blake Walker also on 39, Phil Eberlein 38 and Ed Brown 37 points.  Twos went to Jason Shaw, John Warner, Glenn Harper and Brian Russo.

That’s all for this week.
