It feels as if winter has returned so not sure how many Grumpies will venture out today.

Coming up this weekend is the Mens 54/36 Hole Open – it is very disappointing to note that we have nearly as many visitors playing as members, so come on guys get your names into the office and make this a tournament to remember.

Entries are now being taken for the Lamb & Chardonnay which is being played on Friday 13th October and also for the Baarrbraa Trophy at Eketahuna on Sunday 15th October.  Please remember that these should be sent to:  entries@martinboroughgolfclub.co.nz

Results from last week:  Grumpies played an Irish Stableford round with Griff Page leading the way with 76 points, Michael Eastwood (Ohope Beach), Brett Abercrombie & Mariana McDermott 68 and Vern Anton 67 points.  There were no twos.

On Wednesday the ladies played Stableford, 1st Katrina Burgess 40, Jenny Wilkie, Emily Loughnan and Julie Weber 37 points.   Nearest the pins were Sandra Petersen #6 and Julie Dondertman #8, twos went to Sandra, Emily and Katrina.

The 9 holers also played a Stableford round with Jenny Tosswill fresh from her holiday winning with 21 points and Jill Murphy and Lizzy Thomson both on 20 points.

There was a good turnout on Thursday and the winner was Ed Elworthy on a countback with 40 points, Bob Lindberg 40, Bill Gordon and Johnson Williams 39 points and Alistair Petrie 37 points.  Twos went to Shane Mellor and Jason Shaw and nearest the pin was Seamus O’Sullivan.

On Sunday we hosted the AB Martin Mixed Foursomes and at the end of the day every couple appeared to still be talking to each other.  Once again a father and daughter team won, namely Kelly Taylor & Trevor Petersen with nett 66, 2nd Mariana McDermott & Brett Abercrombie 69, 3rd Ali Tipler & Sandy Bidwill 71, 4th Cate Crombie & Jason Shaw 72, 5th Honor & Doug Clark 75, 6th Ju Allen & Bill Gordon 76, 7th Sarah & John Monaghan 76, 8th Jo & Tim Loe 76, 9th Carol Parkinson & Pete Griffiths 77.
