Tuesday Tome 1st March 2022

This week I would like to start by congratulating Anna Possenniskie on getting into the Wellington Women’s Masters Interprovincial team.  The team will be competing in the Women’s Masters National Interprovincial at the Alexandra Golf Club in Otago from March 31st to April 3rd when they will play 4 rounds of strokeplay over 3 days.  Go Anna!!

On Saturday Div 3 and Div 11 were playing at home and both teams had excellent wins – Div 3 won 13.5/1.5 and Div 11 won 11.5/3.5.  This puts both teams at the top of their divisions.

On Sunday the final round of last years Marquis Shield was played at Mahunga and we were playing Carterton – they won the singles 6.5/5.5 and we won the 4ball 3.5/2.5.  The overall result meant that Pahiatua won the Shield for 2021 with Eketahuna 2nd and Martinborough 3rd.

On Friday the Ladies are playing Riverside Cup at Eketahuna against Carterton.  On Saturday Div 3 are playing at Karori and Div 11 are at home against Miramar.  On Sunday the Ladies are hosting Tilson Salver and next Monday the Silver Pennants team are at Shandon playing against Royal Wellington Gold, and Bronze Pennants team are at Boulcott Farm playing against Masterton 2.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round with Richard Thompson winning with 40 points, Tony Didsbury and Robbie Walters 39 and Guy Walmsley 38 points.  Doug Ferguson was the only one to get a two.

On Wednesday the 18 holers played Par MSB with Bindy McLeod winning on all square, Adele Cairns and Honor Clark -1 and Sue Dalton and Sharon Jephson -2.  Mariana McDermott was the only one to get a two and nearest the pin on #6 was Honor and #8 Mariana.

The 9 holers also played a Par round with Jane Fanselow-Price winning on +3, Tania Williamson +1 and Jo Guscott all square.

Thursday Club also had another good turnout with Richard Mills winning with 41 points, Kane Sim and Doug Clark 40, Rob Coy and Tim Loe 39.  Twos went to Jason Shaw, Doug Clark, Richard Mills, Jason Lange, Rob Coy, Sandra Petersen, Andrew Sim, Lisa-Marie Ireland, Lachie McLeod and Shane Hartnell.  Nearest the pin went to Rob Coy.

On Saturday a Stableford round was played with Karen Shaw winning with 37 points from Emily Loughnan on 33 points and there were no twos.

Sunday was also a Stableford round with Doug Clark winning with 41 points, Malcolm Wood 36, Bevan Sweeney 35 and Stu Taplin and Marilyn MacKenzie 34 points.  Twos went to Malcolm Wood, Terry Fraei, Doug Clark and Tony Taylor.
