Grumpies start our Club results as usual, 1st Rick Thompson on +7, 2nd David Marsh and Griff Page on +5, 4th Ro Griffiths and Sandy Bidwill on +4. Twos went to Rick Hargreaves and Bill Jones.
Eleven pairs turned up bright and early last Wednesday to play the 36 hole Nancy McCormick Foursomes. It was a day for the 'Mcs' with Bindy McLeod and Mariana McDermott coming out on top. 2nd Ju Allen and Jo Loe, 3rd Sue Fox and Elaine Howe. The Riverside Cup team did well the previous week scoring 5.5 points out of a possible 6.
Thursday was another good day out and finally the reporter managed to have her day!! 1st Ailsa Malneek 45, 2nd Gumboot Petersen, Bevan Sweenz, Johnson Williams & Sandy Bidwill 44, 6th Ro Griffiths & Colin Whibley-Smith 42. Twos: Gary James, Chris Ranish, Paul McKenzie, Andrew Lawler, George Kirk, Bill Jones, Chris Hanson & Johnny Gray; nearest the pin Craig Andrews.
No competition on Saturday but the men’s interclub teams played at home and both won their matches; Div 5 beat Titahi 14-1 and Div 11 beat Wainuiomata 8-6. Well done guys!!
Sunday’s competition was stableford, 1st Karen Stephens, Johnson Williams 44, 3rd Marie Scrimshaw 43, 4th Derek Stephens, Glenn Harper 42, 6th John Taylor, Sandra Petersen 40. Twos: Johnson Williams, Bill Jones & John Warner, Trevor Hawkins got the bird’s nest with 2’s on 6 and 8.
Coming up: Captains’ Trophy and Marquis Shield both on second rounds this Sunday. St John’s Tournament 5th April. And for the first time to be held in Martinborough, the 15TH ANNUAL FEATHERSTON 54 HOLE CLASSIC 2019 being held over 3 days, Saturday 20th April to Monday 22nd April, gross, nett and daily stableford, 3 men’s divisions and 2 ladies, plus plenty more prizes; to register email office@martinboroughgolfclub.co.nz
