It looks as if there are going to be a few Grumpies out playing today – there are a number of black clouds around but they seem to be bypassing us so hopefully they will manage to stay dry.

With regards to the course we have received a number of complaints about divots not being replaced and pitchmarks not being repaired.  Can I please remind you that it is every players responsibility to replace divots and repair pitchmarks and, whilst I’m on the subject, it is also your responsibility to rake the bunker after you have been in it.  I realise that it is not only members failing to do these things but every divot replaced and every pitchmark repaired helps to maintain the course to a high standard.  Here endeth the lesson!!!!

On Monday 1st August we have a group of ladies from the South Island coming to play and we are in need of trundlers, so if you have a spare trundler or are happy to lend yours for the day please let me know as soon as possible.

On to results from last week:  Grumpies didn’t play last week and neither did the Ladies on Wednesday.

Thursday Club had a reasonable number out playing with Doug Clark taking the money with 42 points from Davis Lester Clarke 37, Brian Russo, Malcolm Wood, Rob Lopez and Sandra Petersen all on 36 points.  Twos went to Malcolm Wood (2), Ailsa Malneek, Brian Russo, Darren Bevan and Seamus O’Sullivan.  The Martinborough Brewery voucher for nearest the pin went to Darren Bevan.

The weekend competitions were Shoot Out/Medal/Putting with Colin Whibley-Smith winning on Saturday with a nett 70, Chris Ranish 71 and Rob Lopez 75.  Putting went to Chris Ranish with 26 putts.  There were no twos on Saturday.  On Sunday the winner was Jason Shaw nett 72 on a countback to Doug Clark, Rob Lopez 73 and Mark Lucock and Derek Stephens both with nett 75.  Twos went to Olivia Clark, Doug Clark and Dayle Scrimshaw.  Derek Stephens won the putting on a countback with 27 putts.

That’s it for this week – short and sweet.
