Tuesday Tome 23rd May 2023

Glorious day today with clear blue skies and sunshine – let’s hope it stays that way for a number of days.  The course is still extremely wet underfoot with the green keeping staff still unable to mow the rough and fairways.

A reminder that this Sunday we have the Ngahau Trophy/Grandmas & Grandpas tournament (with a non grandparents division as well) – registration is from 10.00am with the draw being done at 10.30am for an 11.00am tee off.  Entry fee is $20.

Also coming up over the next couple of weeks is the Kindy Ambrose Golf Tournament on Monday 5th June – please send your entries to the office.  This is open to golfers and non golfers with all proceeds going to Martinborough Kindergarten.

Not a lot of golf was played last week, however Thursday Club had 29 go out to play a Stableford round.  The conditions obviously suited Shayne Hammond who came in with 43 points, Kheinan Morrissey 40, Alistair Petrie 38 and Brian Russo 37 points.  James Elworthy was nearest the pin and there were no twos.

On Saturday Div 3 hosted Wainuiomata in the last round of interclub.  In the four ball matches Troy & Jason Shaw, Josh Hawkins & Matt Thomas and Charlie Jackson & Shayne Cater won their matches and in the singles wins went to Troy, Jason, Josh, Matt, George Fenwick and Charlie.

Div 10 were away at Royal Wellington with Seamus O’Sullivan & Tora Boyne and Paul McKenzie & Neil McKirdy winning their four ball matches.  In the singles Seamus and Paul both had wins.

On Sunday the ladies played Tilson Salver at Riversdale Beach against Mahunga.  Alison Tipler & Nicola Warren won their four ball match and in the singles Jo Loe, Alison and Nicola won their games.  This has now put them equal first with Masterton with one more round to play.

On Monday the Silver Pennants team were playing at Miramar against Manor Park.  All four ball matches were won and in the singles Mary Isaac, Carol Parkinson, Sherry Weatherstone and Jenny Wilkie all had wins and Sandra Petersen halved her match.

That’s it for another week.
