The is the final Tuesday Tome from me and also for the year.  Thank you to everyone for the good wishes, they are very much appreciated.

Please remember that it is starting to get busy out on the course so please make sure you book before coming down to play – looking and not booking won’t stop you getting growled at!!!

Last Thursday was the annual Smiddy’s Tournament which had an excellent turnout.  The winner on the day was Graham Wilson with 45 points, 2nd Ailsa Malneek 44, 3rd Shane Hislop 42, 4th= Sandra Petersen, Trevor Petersen and Andy Morison 41, 7th Rob Smith 40, 8th Shayne Hammond 39, 9th Seamus O’Sullivan 38, 10th= Chris Ranish, Doug Clark, Martin Napier, Honor Clark, Lachie McLeod, Marilyn MacKenzie, Karen Stephens and George Kirk 37, 18th= Brian Russo, Brent McKinlay and Tom de Groen 36 points.  Twos went to:  Pete Price, Shayne Hammond, Malcolm Wood, Tom de Groen, Sandy Bidwill, Brent Woodmiss, Johnny Gray, Rob Coy, Doug Clark, Chris Ranish, Scott Reid and Ryan Sewell.  Nearest the pins:  #6 Pete Price, #8 Malcolm Wood, 12th Shane Colton and 16th Scott Reid.  Long drives:  Men – Nick Morison, Women – Ailsa Malneek.

Tuesday Tome 12th December 2023

It is a hive of activity here at the Club today with tomorrow looking at being even busier with a number of you volunteering to come in and help clear out/pack up the clubhouse.

On Thursday it is the annual Smiddys Tournament – entry fee is $10 with the usual start time and as always loads of prizes up for grabs.

Results from last week:  last Tuesday was the last Grumpies until next year when they played a Stableford round – Rick Hargreaves was the winner with 42 points from Chris Handley on 41, Pete Halstead 40 and Paul Riddiford, Malcolm Wood and Terry Blacktop all on 39 points.  Twos went to Dayle Harwood, Terry Blacktop and Chris Ranish.

There was a good turnout for Thursday Club with George Kirk leading the way with 41 points, Tony Taylor 40, Greg Dalton and Raymond Matthews 39, Alistair Boyne 38, Chris Ranish, Shayne Hammond, Martin Napier, Kheinan Morrissey and Rick Hargreaves all on 37 points.  Nearest the pin was Ro Griffiths and twos went to Rick Hargreaves, Seamus O’Sullivan and Karen Stephens.

Last Sunday was Closing Day/Prize Giving – it was pleasing to see such a good turnout on what turned out to be quite a cold day.  The competition was Ambrose (Gross/Nett) and the winners were as follows:

Tuesday Tome 5th December 2023

Firstly a reminder that the AGM is being held in the clubhouse on Wednesday 6th December at 5.30pm – everyone welcome.

On Sunday we have our Xmas Cheer & Closing Day  – if you are intending to play it would be very helpful if you could let the office know as this helps the organising committee and the caterer.  Entries can be paid by either Eftpos or cash on the day (please note that cash out will not be available) and you must be here by 10.30am so that a draw can be done for an 11.00am tee off.

Last Sunday was Shoot Out finals day with the men teeing off the 1st and the women off the 4th.  Results are as follows:

Women:  1st Bindy McLeod, 2nd Kelly Taylor, 3rd Emily Loughnan and 4th Katrina Burgess.

Men:  1st Seanoa Isaac, 2nd Rob Coy, 3rd Trevor Petersen and 4th John Warner.

Tuesday Tome 28th November 2023

Not as many Grumpies out as usual today – they must have got wind that they would be playing off the yellow tees today!!

This Sunday is finals day for the mens and womens Shoot Out.  Tee off will be at 8.30am off the 1st for the men and 8.30am off the 4th for the women.  This is always a good days entertainment so why not come down to see who this years winners will be.

Sunday 10th December will be Closing Day and Prize Giving – more details next week.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round with Mr Captain, Andy Morison, winning with 39 points, Griff Page 38 and Malcolm Wood, Chris Handley and Rob Smith all with 37 points.  Twos went to Malcolm Bridge and Andy.

There was a good turnout for Thursday Club and the winner on the day was Dayle Harwood 40 points, Michael Tosswill 39, Kieran McGoverin and Nick Morison 38, James Elworthy, Doug Clark and Andy Morison 37, Bevan Sweeney, Kris Mason, David Stevenson, Al Petrie, Shayne Cater and Tony Taylor all with 36 points.  Nearest the pin was Doug Clark and twos went to Doug, Rob Coy, Shayne Cater, Kieran McGovern, David Stevenson and George Kirk.

Last weekend saw the final competitions of the year which were Par rounds and the winner on Saturday was Dayle Harwood on -3 and he and John Warner both had twos.  On Sunday the winner was Glenn Harper +5 and 2nd Karen Stephens square and Derek Stephens got the only two of the day.

On Sunday a number of our men went over to Royal Wellington to play in the Bidwill/Leckie Cup which they won last year – unfortunately the trophy didn’t come back over the hill.  Maybe next year!

Tuesday Tome 21st November 2023

If anyone has any trophies at home could they please return them to the golf club as soon as possible (not Ladies or 9 hole trophies) as they need to be sent away to be engraved.

Coming up this week the men are off to Royal Wellington on Sunday to hopefully defend the Bidwill/Leckie Cup which they won last year – good luck gentlemen.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round with Griff Page winning with 41 points, Ro Griffiths and Paul Shepherd 40 and Raymond Matthews and Andy Morison 38 points.  There were no twos.

On Wednesday the Ladies held their Closing Day, AGM and Prize Giving – it was great the see both 18 hole and 9 hole players enjoying their day together.

There was a reasonable turnout for Thursday Club last week – once again Griff Page was a winner with 40 points, Karen Stephens 39, Paul Riddiford, Robbie Walters, Kheinan Morrissey, David Stevenson, Paul Shepherd and Ed Elworthy all on 37 points.  Ed Brown was nearest the pin and twos went to Kheinan Morrissey and Malcolm Wood.

The competitions at the weekend were Stableford.  The winner on Saturday was Kelly Taylor 45 points, Chris Brooks 41 and Peter Schenk 37.  There were no twos.  Sundays winner was Shane Hartnell 44 points, Julie Dondertman 41, Brett Abercrombie 40 and Glenn Harper and Ed Brown 39 points.  Twos went to Brett Abercrombie and Shane Hartnell.

The final competitions of the year this weekend are Par.

Tuesday Tome 14th November 2023

It is a rather blustery day out there so not sure how many Grumpies will venture out today.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Par round with Mr President, Lachie McLeod, winning on +5, Andrew McKenzie +5 and Sandy Bidwill +4.  Twos went to Andy Morison and Jason Shaw.

On Wednesday the Ladies played their 36 Strokeplay Championship with Sandra Petersen taking out the Gross prize with 175, 2nd was Lisa Marie Ireland with 176.  The Nett Prize went to Ju Allen with 142 from Julie Weber on 143.  Twos went to Sandra Petersen and Karen Shaw.

The previous Wednesday the 9 holers had their shoot out final.  The winner was Debbie Coom, 2nd Jenny Joblin, 3rd Sherryl Howie, 4th Jane Fanselow-Price, 5th Lizzy Thomson, 6th Tania Williamson, 7th Jenny Tosswill, 8th Tingay Davidson, 9th Billie Holmes and 10th Jo Guscott.

There was a good turnout for Thursday Club with Jason Shaw leading the way with 41 points, Garth Hurrell 40, Ed Elworthy 39 and Vern Anton, Paul Riddiford, Tony Taylor, Bob Lindberg, Mariana McDermott, Seamus O’Sullivan, Malcolm Bridge and Andrew Sim all on 38 points.  Nearest the pin was Rob Smith and twos went to Jason Shaw (2), Bob Lindberg and Vern Anton.

On Saturday we hosted the 36 Hole Mixed Foursomes.  Best Gross went to Ju Allen & Jason Shaw (165), 2nd Alan & Mary Isaac (173), 3rd Anna Possenniskie & Martin Napier (174) and 4th Honor & Doug Clark.  Best Nett went to Andrew & Marion McKenzie (136), 2nd Dayle & Marie Scrimshaw (144), 3rd Julie Weber & Brent McKinlay (145) and 4th Lyle & Ro Griffiths (150).   Best Stableford Kelly Taylor & Trevor Petersen (76), 2nd Mariana McDermott & Seamus O’Sullivan (72), 3rd Stephen Watts & Emily Loughnan (70) and 4th Alec & Julie Dondertman (66).

Sunday was Medal/Putting and the last qualifying round for Shoot Out.  1st was Guy Walmsley 67, Ed Brown 71 and Dayle Harwood 71.  Twos went to Brian Russo, Chris Brooks and Jason Shaw.  Putting went to Dayle Harwood with 28 putts.

Coming up this week the ladies have their Closing Day, AGM and Prize Giving and the weekend competitions are Stableford.

Not the biggest turnout of Grumpies today – perhaps the weather has put some off or maybe they just decided to stay home and watch the Melbourne Cup.

Coming up this weekend we have the 36 Hole Mixed Foursomes – tee off is 9.00am and entries are still being taken so let the office know if you wish to play.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round.  Rick Hargreaves was the winner with 45 points, Guy Walmsley 41, Brian Russo, Bob Tosswill and Martin Napier 40 and Andy Morison 39 points.  Twos went to Rick Hargreaves, Ed Brown, Martin Napier, Malcolm Bridge and Guy Walmsley.

On Wednesday the 18 holers played their Club Champ Plate finals.  Winners were Sandra Petersen (Silver), Honor Clark (Bronze A) and Jaquee Reid (Bronze B).  For those not playing matches there was a Par MSB round with Sarah Monaghan winning on +4 and Marion McKenzie and Bindy McLeod both on +1.  There were no twos.

Thursday Club very kindly gave up their day so that we could host our Eagles Halberg Day.  There was an excellent turnout for this and the winners were as follows:  9 Holes:  1st Lizzy Thomson 22 points, 2nd Sherryl Howie 19, 3rd Jenny Tosswill 18.  Ladies:  1st Lisa Marie Ireland 40, 2nd Kris Mason 38, 3rd Ju Allen 36.  Men:  1st Tamahou Aranui 44, 2nd John Monaghan 43, 3rd Lachie McLeod 40, 4th Charlie Cresswell 40, 5th Trevor Petersen 40, 6th Bob Lindberg 39, 7th Vern Anton 39, 8th Brett Abercrombie 38, 9th Doug Clark 37 and 10th Bill Gordon 37 points.  Twos went to:  Tamahou Aranui, John Duffy (Eketahuna), Martin Napier, Vern Anton, Greg Dalton and Brett Abercrombie.  Nearest the pins:  #6 John Duffy, #8 Greg Dalton, #12 Jimmy McKinnel, #16 Dayle Harwood.  Longest drives:  Men 0-18 Doug Clark, 19+ Jason Burt, Ladies Lisa Marie Ireland.  Following the golf there was an auction of wine which was kindly donated by a number of local wineries.  Thank you to everyone for supporting the day where we raised $2,700.

At the weekend the Club Championship Finals were played:  Mens Senior winner was Tony Russo, runner up Josh Hawkins, Mens Intermediate winner was George Kirk, runner up Dayle Harwood, Ladies Silver Division winner was Anna Possenniskie, runner up Lisa Marie Ireland, Ladies Bronze A winner Jenny Wilkie, runner up Karen Shaw, Ladies Bronze B winner Sarah Monaghan, runner up Alison Tipler.

On Sunday the competition was Stableford with Emily Loughan leading the way with 45 points, Derek Stephens 41, Neil McKirdy 39 and Paul McKenzie 38 points.  Bob Tosswill won the birds nest getting 2 twos, Ben Stevenson, Emily Loughnan and John Warner also got twos.

Coming up this week the ladies have their 36 Hole Strokeplay Championship, on Saturday 36 Hole Mixed 4Somes and on Sunday the competition is Medal/Putting and the final qualifying round for Shoot Out.

Tuesday Tome 31st October 2023

It is nice to see the sun shining and a good turnout of Grumpies today.  Fingers crossed the weather is this good on Thursday for our Murray Halberg Day – don’t forget cards need to be in by 11.30am for a midday tee off – entry is $20.  Don’t forget to bring plenty of cash as there is a raffle and an auction following golf.

Please remember to get your entries in for the 36 Hole Mixed Foursomes on Saturday 11th November.  If you need a partner let the office know and we will endeavour to find you someone.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Stableford round with Ro Griffiths leading the way with 38 points, Malcolm Bridge 37, Pete Price, Martin Napier, Tony Taylor and Mariana McDermott 36 points.  There were no twos.

On Wednesday the Ladies also played a Stableford with Marion McKenzie winning with 43 points, Marie Scrimshaw 42 and Angela Busby 34 points.  Nearest the pins went to Carol Parkinson on #6 and Marion McKenzie on #8.  Twos went to Carol, Marion, Marie and Sandra Petersen.

There were a few hardy souls who battled the wind and the rain on Thursday but this didn’t seem to bother the winner, Trevor Petersen, as he came in with 42 points, Robbie Walters 39, Lachie McLeod and Jason Burt 36, Andrew McKenzie, Mariana McDermott, Andy Morison and Ro Griffiths 35 points.  Nearest the pin was Dayle Harwood and twos went to Seamus O’Sullivan (2), Dayle Harwood, Rob Smith and Jason Shaw.

The weekend competitions were Medal/Putting and Shoot Out.  The winner on Saturday was Trevor Petersen 66, Mark Lucock and Marilyn MacKenzie 70.  Twos went to Shayne Cater, John Warner and Trevor Petersen.  Putting was won by Mark Lucock with 26 putts.

Sunday’s winner was Vern Anton 67, Ed Brown and Sandy Bidwill 69, Chris Handley 70 and Steven Croft 71.  Twos went to Bevan Sweeney, Sandy Bidwill, Shayne Hammond, Terry Fraei, Barry Johnson and Ed Brown.  Sandy won the putting with 26 putts.

The competitions this week are:  18 holers:  final of the Vets Club Champs, Par MSB for everyone else and the 9 holers have their Shoot Out final.

Saturday is Club Championship finals starting at 8.40am and Sunday the competition is Stableford.

Coming up in November we are hosting the 36 Hole Mixed Foursomes on Saturday 11th November (flyer attached).  It would be lovely to see this tournament well supported so if you haven’t got a partner let the office know and we will try and find you someone.

Results from last week:  there was a good turnout of Grumpies with Rick Hargreaves leading the way with 44 points, 2nd Ed Brown 41, 3rd Jason Shaw 39 and equal 4th Bob Tosswill and Malcom Wood with 38 points.  Twos went to Greg Dalton, Seamus O’Sullivan and Jason Shaw.

On Wednesday the ladies were playing Club Championship matches and four hardy souls braved the weather and played a nett round with the winner being Kelly Taylor with a nett 70.  There were no nearest the pins or twos.

Once again there was a good turnout for Thursday Club.  Malcolm Bridge was the winner with 40 points, Tora Boyne 39, Lachie McLeod and Robbie Walters 38, Greg Dalton and Charlie Cresswell 37 and Rob Smith, Kheinan Morrissey and Shane Hislop 36 points.  Nearest the pin went to birthday boy Glen Schofer who got his two along with Greg Dalton and Dayle Harwood who managed two twos.

The competition at the weekend was Par with Robbie Walters leading the way on all square, Ed Brown and Julie Dondertman -2.  There were no twos.

On Sunday a few of our players went to Eketahuna to defend the Baarrbraa Trophy – apparently the conditions were very trying with bags blowing over and people barely able to walk in the wind.  Congratulations to Eketahuna on reclaiming the trophy.

The competitions for this week are:  9 Holers have their Club Champ Finals, 18 holers have further rounds of Club Champs and those not playing in CCs have a Par round and the weekend competitions are Stableford.

Tuesday Tome 10th October 2023

There is a good turnout of Grumpies today – must be the sunshine tempting them out to play.

Coming up this week we have the Lamb & Chardonnay Ambrose on Friday teeing off at 11.30am.

Sunday is the Baarrbraa Trophy at Eketahuna – please let me know by tomorrow afternoon if you are keen to play.  Tee off is at 12.30pm so that you can watch the All Blacks.

Results from last week:  Last Tuesday 8 Grumpies went out to play but only 4 completed the round in very miserable conditions.

On Wednesday the ladies played Club Champs and those that didn’t have matches played a Stableford round off the red tees.  The winner was Karen Shaw with 33 points from Julie Dondertman 32 and Bernadette Pither 29 points.  Nearest the pins went to Carol Parkinson #6 and Karen Shaw #8.  There were no twos.

On Thursday there was a $10 tournament with a huge number of prizes.  The winner was Johnson Williams with 40 points, Ailsa Malneek 38, Robbie Walters 37, Tee Aranui, Trevor Petersen and Kheinan Morrissey 36, George Hunt, Pete Price, George Kirk, Doug Clark, Rick Thompson and Ed Brown 35 and Bevan Sweeney, Shayne Hammond, Stephen Watts, John Monaghan, Jason Shaw, Malcolm Wood, Rick Hargreaves and Tim Loe all with 34 points.  Twos went to Guy Walmsley, Kheinan Morrissey and Pete Price.  Nearest the pins:  #6 Kheinan Morrissey, #8 Rick Thompson, #12 Doug Clark and #16 Jason Shaw.  Longest drives:  Men 0-18 Shane Colton, 19+ Greg Dalton, women Sandra Petersen.

The weekend competitions were Medal/Putting and Shoot Out.  The winner on Saturday was John Warner with nett 65, he also won the putting with 22 putts and he had the only two!  Sundays winner was Jason Shaw 70, Doug Clark 70, Malcolm Bridge 72 and Bevan Sweeney and Kris Mason 73.  Doug Clark won the putting with 25 putts.  Twos went to Trevor Petersen, Doug Clark, Jason Shaw, John Warner, Malcolm Bridge and Bevan Sweeney.

The competitions for this week are:  Ladies 18 holes:  LGU/Shoot Out/Putting and the weekend competitions are Par rounds.
