On Sunday, Vern Anton got the only two of the day, Derek Stephens won the putting with 29 putts, Barry Johnson won the Net Medal on 64, followed by Ed Brown on 71, and Brett Abercrombie on 75.

Our Saturday and Sunday Competition this weekend is Stableford both days. $5 cash entry fee.

Here’s the results from the 9-hole ladies Wed 21st – Jo Guscott with a net of 28 was the winner, Tania Williamson and Philippa Reid second equal with a net of 30, followed by Ali Russell with 31.

9-hole ladies Interclub on Thu 22nd – Tingay Davidson, Jenny Tosswill, and Lizzy Thomson represented Martinborough at the opening round of the 9-hole Interclub competition at Waikanae. They enjoyed the challenge of a different course. Matches were close but they came away with 0.5 of a point and Masterton 3.5 points. Their next match is in two weeks.

And! Tingay has won a trip to Millbrook to play in the 9-hole competition at the NZ Open this weekend. It’s part of the summer ‘make time to play 9’. The winner then gets to go to the British Open! Good luck Tingay!!

The first Martin Sugar Bowl (MSB) Round of the year for the 18-hole ladies: 1st Sharon Jepson with a magnificent +6, 2nd Bindy McLeod with an impressive +5 and the only 2, 3rd Marianna McDermott also impressive +5, 4th Lyle Griffiths with +4, 5th Alison Tipler with +4.

Closest to the pin on #6 was Mary Isaac and #8 was Ann Hume (very accurate 2 weeks in a row!).

Tilson Salver – Karen Shaw, Honor Clark, Emily Loughnan, and Nicola Warren played out at Castlepoint vs Riversdale. It is the first Interclub games since Cyclone Gabrielle. We can say they have done well to get it back to where it is! And the greens were different! The games were extremely friendly and close with 3 games going to the 18th and one to the 17th. Karen and Emily won their singles.

Grumpies results for last week were – 1st  Rick Thompson on 44 from Mariana McDermott on 43, and then Brian Russo on 37 with Andy Morison on 36. There were no twos.

Marquis Shield – The first round was held at Carterton last Sunday, Martinborough playing Masterton. In the singles Martinborough won 8 to 4, and in the fourball won 5 to 1. Overall points for Martinborough 4 points.

Sunday Club – You may have noticed the new Sunday Club on the booking sheets. This is an extension of the Featherston players, plus Martinborough players, as it was becoming difficult to find consecutive tee times at the busy weekends. All players are welcome, but please txt Brian Russo 027 777 8770 if you would like to join in. We have booked slots for 24 players for the next couple of weeks to gauge interest. The draw is made at 10am, so be here and organised before then please.
