Hello golfers
We are deeply saddened to learn that Whitney Griffiths passed away yesterday morning in England. Our heartfelt thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family, friends, and the many members of the golfing community who knew and respected him. He will be greatly missed.
Grumpies – PAR 30 Jun – 1st: Sandy Bidwill & Chris Ranish -1, 2nd: Jason Shaw -2, 3rd: Ro Griffiths -3. One Two for Sandy Bidwill on #8.
Ladies –
9 holes – Once the fog lifted a group of 12 enjoyed their 3rd golf lesson with Brad. Those not having a lesson played a Stableford competition, and we all commented on the winter golf conditions as our balls plopped instead of running. Lots of excuses but also lots of fun. Jenny Joblin took the Stablefords win with 13. Janet Chilton was closest to the pin on #8.
18 holes – Congratulations to the Ladies that played the Riverside Cup on Friday. They won their match 5 to 1 against Riversdale and doing this they brought the points up to level with Eketahuna. Therefore we finished 1st equal sharing the cup with them. Well done to all who played in the Riverside Cup Teams over this season.

Part 4 of 6. Golf Etiquette. Pace of Play – Play at good pace and keep up: Players should play at a good pace. The Committee may establish pace of play guidelines that all players should follow. It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.
Be ready to play: Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn to play. When playing on or near the putting green, players should leave their bags or carts in such a position as will enable quick movement off the green and towards the next tee. When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green.
Lost ball: If a player believes their ball may be lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, they should play a provisional ball to save time. Players searching for a ball should signal the players in the group behind them to play through as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily be found. They should not search for five minutes before doing so. Having allowed the group behind to play through, they should not continue play until that group has passed and is out of range.
