Tuesday Tome 11th October 2022

It is good to see the course is slowly drying out – fingers crossed there isn’t too much rain before the Lamb & Chardonnay on Sunday.  For those of you playing on Sunday if you have any team changes please let me know before 5pm on Saturday.

On Sunday 30th October we are hosting the Baarbraa Trophy which is an annual competition played against Eketahuna.  More details nearer the time, but if you are keen to play please let me know.

On to the results from last week:  Grumpies had a good turnout with Pete Halstead winning on a countback with 35 points, 2nd Jason Shaw 35, Malcolm Wood also had 35 points.  Twos went to Malcolm Wood, Pete Halstead and Pete Price.

The Ladies played Par MSB with Ladies Captain, Sandra Petersen leading the way on -2, Julie Weber -5 and Bernadette Pither -6.  Nearest the pins went to Ju Allen on #8 – no one hit the green on #6 and there were no twos.

The 9 holers played their first round of Club Championships with Debbie Coom, Jane Fanselow-Price, Tania Williamson, Gaylene Selby Neal, Jo Guscott, Lizzy Thomson and Kay Harvey all going through to the next round.

On Thursday there were only a handful of players keen enough to play – the winner on the day was Mr Captain, Andy Morison, with 33 points from Jason Shaw also on 33 points.  The only two of the day went to Nick Morison and Andy was nearest the pin.

The weekend competitions were Shoot Out/Medal/Putting – can I please remind those of you that play that if you have not paid your $20 for Shoot Out then you are not eligible for the final.  Saturdays winner was John Warner with net 73, Jason Shaw 74 and Brent McKinlay 75.  Twos went to John and Brent and Brent won the putting with 27 putts.  Sunday Jason won with net 74, Chris Handley 75 and Brent McKinlay also on 75.  Twos went to Glenn Harper and Jason won the putting with 26 putts.

On Monday the 9 holers hosted their Open Day with a good field of 57 players.  The overall winner on the day was Billie Holmes with 16 points.  Division 1 – Alex Tomlinson (Masterton) 16, Iesha Adrian-Mansfield (Marton) 15 and Jill Murphy 14 points.  Division 2 Barbie Wallace (Masterton) 14 points, Opalle Weir (Marton) 12, Helen Ordish (Masterton) 12 and Jill Paterson (Paraparaumu) 12 points.  Mens Division was won by Brian Willis (Marton) 15 points, David Douglas (Levin) 15 and Napier McFedries (Otaki) 14 points.

That’s it for this week – have a good one.
