Tuesday Tome 20th September 2022

It is good to see a number of Grumpies out enjoying the warmer weather this afternoon – fingers crossed it stays that way for the rest of the week.

This Sunday is the AB Martin Mixed 4Somes and it would be lovely to see a few more couples playing.  At the moment I have two gentlemen looking for partners, so ladies if you are keen to play give me a call.

The following weekend is the Mens 54/36 Hole Open and I don’t see too many of you with names down for this – this is a great tournament with loads of banter and laughter and with the added bonus of the Calcutta to peak everyones interest.

Entries are rolling in for the Lamb & Chardonnay so if you want to play get your name/team in as soon as possible.

Carol has a couple of Club jerseys looking for homes – mens XXXL and ladies size 16 – if you are keen to purchase one of them call the office.

Results from last week:  Grumpies played a Par round with Brian Russo the winner on -1 from Raymond Matthews on -3.  There were no twos.

8 intrepid ladies played in the rain last Wednesday with Ladies Captain Sandra Petersen winning with 31 points and daughter Kelly Taylor 2nd with 24 along with Karen Shaw also on 24 points.  Nearest the pins went to Karen Shaw on #6 and Katrina Burgess on #8 and they both got their twos.

9 holers were sensible and went for coffee instead!!

There was a good turnout for Thursday Club last week and Glen Schofer was the winner with 40 points from Sam Edridge and Kirk Saunders 38, Nick Morison 37 and Raymond Matthews 36 points.  Twos went to Shayne Hammond (2), Andy Morison, Lachie McLeod, Glen Schofer, Brian Russo, Kirk Saunders, Marie Scrimshaw, Colin Whibley-Smith and Ed Elworthy.  Ed also got nearest the pin.

On Saturday we hosted the Martinborough School Anniversary Ambrose which had a good turnout.  The winning team was Josh Hawkins, Matt Purdy, Owen Coulson and Matt Nicholson net 54.87, 2nd Richie McGregor, Ben Coulson, Ayden Lambert and Thomas Te Kani net 58, 3rd Michael Bing, Shane Colton, Tiawharangi Aranui and Alex Priest net 58.25, 4th Tim Fenwick, Marc Jurlina, Tavita Isaac and Richard Tosswill net 60.87.

On Sunday we hosted Wellington Golf who held their half yearly meeting followed by a 4BBB competition.  Sandra Petersen and Bindy McLeod won the day and the Martinborough team of Sandra and Bindy and Doug Clark and Jason Shaw took out the team prize.

The Sunday competition was Shoot Out/Medal/Putting with Doug Clark leading the way with net 72 from Tony Taylor 73, Derek Stephens and Steve Croft net 74 on countback.  Steve Croft was the only one to get a two and Tony Taylor won the putting with 27 putts (on a countback).

That’s it for this week.
